Trailer Draft 6

This is likely the last draft before the finalized version. Aside from the feedback of changing sound levels and increasing the visibility of our darker scenes, I completely cut out the office scene from the start of the trailer for the following reasons:

  • It sets up very little in our narrative. The audience finds out that Tyler live a “normal life with a job” through the voice over. Instead, I used shot from the office when the voice over mentions Tyler has a job.
  • The issues we came across with the audience not being able to hear the conversation between Tyler and Jaz is also avoided. We couldn’t drive up the gain of the audio otherwise, as Rory mentioned, “static can be heard” and will in return drop the quality of the scene as a whole.
  • In response to real media texts, there are very little that have a scene that takes up 1/4 of the trailer. For those that do, other shots are inter-cut and the scene is likely to have a heavy plot driver in the film.
  • The scene slows down the pace of the trailer and is not what we are looking for. Additionally, after having the fast paced cutting of Tyler’s daily actions of waking up, taking pills e.t.c, the office scene drives down the momentum  we created at the start of the trailer.
  • The removal of the scene potentially takes away the build up from slow to fast paced, hence would have been more beneficial if we had a scene that ties stronger to the plot drivers i.e Tyler experiencing either worlds (being forgotten and forgetting).

Note that in order to speed up the process of rendering and exporting, I removed both the colour correction layers and borders. See video below for the newest draft
